Challenging and imposing normativity: the paradox of identity politics
Abstract
This paper explores the move from modernism to postmodernism and suggests that a postmodernist disdain for truth forms part of an implausible support for our current normativity about partisan identities. The competent judgmental rationality of our ancestors is thus displaced by unending judgmental relativism, untethered from materiality and its ontological truth.
